Is there a landing fee?

  • There is no landing fee however, there is a $40 ramp fee for all charters.

Is there a mechanic on the airport?

  • Yes. We have a full time maintenance facility open 7 days a week. Our mechanic is always available evenings.

Can I tie-down overnight?

  • Yes. The 1st night is FREE if 20 gallons of fuel is purchased. Otherwise, 1st, 2nd & 3rd nights are $10/per night and then $5 per night. The maintenance facility has tie-down ropes and chocks if needed.

How much does it cost to base my aircraft at MMK?

  • Tie-downs are available for $90/month or $112/month for a taxi-thru tie-down.

Are Hangars available?

  • We have 2 Quonset hangars and 10 tee-hangars. Although they are currently full, we do have a waiting list. An additional 4 box hangars were built in 2015 with another expansion project for 16 more hangars to begin 2016-2017. Contact the airport manager to be put on the wait list.

Is there a restaurant?

  • Not on the airport, however there are several restaurants within walking distance. Each month we feature a “Restaurant of the Month” which offers a discount. The local restaurants will deliver and MMK has picnic tables next to the terminal.

Are there any opportunities for youth to get involved in aviation at the airport?

  • The Civil Air Patrol for youth ages 12-18 yrs; contact Capt. LaPlante 203-631-2775 or visit www.gocivilairpatrol.gov. EAA Young Eagles for youth ages 8-17 yrs; contact Brian Rechtiene 203-414-6142 or visit www.youngeagles.org.

What is required to obtain a pilot’s license?

  • You can start flight training at any age. At 16yrs old you can solo and at 17yrs old you can get your pilot’s license. A 3rd class FAA medical is required prior to your 1st solo flight.

Is there a flight school at Meriden?

  • Yes. Call Meriden Aviation Center on the field at 203-648-4870. They have two Piper Warriors for rent and full service flight training avaialable.

Can I just come to the airport to watch the planes take off & land?

  • Of course! We welcome the public to visit the airport any day. Dogs must be on a leash. Check the “News” section of the website for upcoming events. If you have a group that would like to set up a tour or a function, feel free to contact us. Every year we have our annual Fly-In and Public Safety Festival.
